James and Jacquelynne left their teaching jobs in Toronto for a brighter future in Terrace, BC

School District 82 family

"They really seem to care about their teachers … (School District 82) was there to answer questions whenever you need help.  Even if it's something small."

Making the move from Toronto to Terrace, B.C. may seem like a leap of faith but for Jacquelynne and James, it was perfect for their young family. After teaching in Ontario for six years, they were looking for more stability and full-time teaching opportunities. What they found in Terrace were more than jobs. When they arrived, everything exceeded their expectations. They love the friendly community, beautiful mountains, outdoor activities and discovering Terrace's live theatre.

Originally looking to relocate closer to their families on Vancouver Island and Metro Vancouver, the pair were soon drawn to the Coast Mountains School District for full-time classroom opportunities. Jacquelynne works as a full-time Band, Choice and Foods teacher at Caledonia Secondary while James teaches Math and Science at Skeena Middle School. When asked what she would share with other teachers considering the move to Coast Mountains School District, Jacquelynne had this to say.

"As new teachers moving across Canada they provided us with a moving allowance to help with the costs of uprooting our lives! They are also there to answer questions whenever you need help.  Even if it's something small. You're not on the phone with an automatic service where you have to press a ton of buttons before you finally get to talk to the person you need. "

The Coast Mountains School District will be attending virtual career fairs over the next few months to meet candidates like you! They are currently hiring for a variety of roles. Check out all of their current job openings.
