Specialty Programs

The district offers a range of choices including K-12 French immersion, K-12 French as a Second Language, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), trades programs in partnership with Camosun College, a distance education school, an international program for students in grades 8-12, athletics academies for students in grades 9 -12, robust performing arts programs and highly successful extracurricular athletics.

Salary and Benefits

Teachers typically receive a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • medical, dental, and extended health plans;

  • salary indemnity plan benefit;
  • supplemental employment benefits on maternity leave;

ALLOWANCES

Teachers in positions with special responsibilities, e.g. department heads, teacher consultants, teacher coordinators, counsellors, psychologists, alternate school teachers, speech pathologists, may receive a financial allowance of $2,000-$4,000 annually.
