Welcome to James Cameron School

Founded in 1980, James Cameron School is a B.C. Ministry of Education–accredited independent school dedicated to helping students with learning disorders, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and/or dyscalculia, succeed through strength‑based, differentiated instruction.

Why You’ll Love It Here

James Cameron School is a small, close knit learning community, supported by staff who have been dedicated members of our team for many years.

We offer competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits and a condensed school year. The work is deeply rewarding, as staff have the opportunity to witness students’ growth firsthand — particularly as they rebuild their self esteem, gain confidence and develop strong self advocacy skills as they prepare to transition to their next school.

What We Value

JCS empowers students with learning differences by transforming “I can’t” into “I can” through individualized, strengths based instruction.

We follow the mandated B.C. curriculum and celebrate diversity, while providing personalized learning experiences that honour each child’s unique learning style.

We strive to build confidence, support skill development and help students realize their full potential in a compassionate environment.

What Makes Us Unique

At James Cameron School, students benefit from daily one‑to‑one instruction with an Orton‑Gillingham–trained tutor, supported by small classes and dedicated Education Assistants who help ensure every learner’s needs are met.

Our close‑knit team contributes to the warm, welcoming atmosphere families and visitors often remark on, and we actively encourage new ideas and innovation.

We offer extensive professional development opportunities and maintain a 4:1 student‑to‑staff ratio, allowing us to provide truly individualized support while fostering a collaborative, highly rewarding work environment.

Our School Community

Our school community is grounded in strong relationships, collaboration and a shared commitment to student growth.

We value inclusivity, respect and understanding, working together to create a safe, supportive environment where every student is known, valued and encouraged to reach their potential.

Our staff are dedicated, reflective and open to innovation, united by the goal of helping students build confidence, independence and a lasting love of learning.

Nestled in Natural Beauty

Nestled at the edge of a quiet neighbourhood, James Cameron School is steps from essential amenities, including banks, grocery stores, coffee shops and restaurants.

The location offers quick access to the Golden Ears Bridge, with Dewdney Trunk Road and Lougheed Highway nearby for easy commuting by transit or car.

Surrounded by natural beauty, the area provides convenient routes to Burke Mountain to the west and the Pitt Meadows countryside, dykes and Golden Ears–Alouette Lake region to the east, making it an ideal blend of accessibility and outdoor recreation.
