Chaoyin International School (CIS) is a new British Columbia certified independent school. Our focus is to prepare students for their journey towards university. We believe that this journey begins early through establishing a solid foundation in literacy, numeracy, and language skills, especially English and Mandarin.

The Community

The City of Richmond is a thriving multicultural destination offering a growing range of cultural, heritage, culinary and leisure experiences well-suited to all ages and interests. With a population of nearly 200,000, where half its residents are of Asian descent, Richmond is where “east meets west.”

Voted as one of the Canada’s most livable, the Richmond is home to 80 km of walking and biking trails, stunning natural landscapes, National Historic Sites, parks, and some of the city’s top attractions.

Living and Working in Richmond

Richmond has everything – shopping, recreation, parks, biking, ocean beaches, rivers, farmland, and easy access to the Vancouver airport (YVR), BC Ferries, and the US border. You can experience a broad range of Asian culture without having to leave North America Richmond. There are over 400 Asian restaurants, world-renowned Asian night markets, the awe-inspiring International Buddhist Temple, and three Hong Kong-style shopping malls—Richmond offers authentic Asian food and cultural experiences. You can also spend the day at the quaint village of Steveston, a historical fishing community located at the Fraser River.

Chaoyin International School is centrally located in the heart of the city and is easily accessible by SkyTrain. Our school campus is located near restaurants, shopping malls, and several fitness facilities, including the Richmond Olympic Oval—a state-of-the-art sports complex and community centre.

Unique Programs

CIS’s educational program is rigorous, robust, and challenges students each day to be the best they can be. What sets us apart is our Mandarin Language Program. CIS Students receive daily instruction in Mandarin Language starting in Kindergarten (with no experience necessary) and develop fluency by Grade 7. About half of our enrolment is from overseas students in China.

Salary and Application Details

Chaoyin International School’s teacher salaries are on par with local public school districts. Our annual salaries range from $50,000 – $88,000, depending on your experience and education.

Application Requirements

Our ideal candidate has experience teaching at the elementary level (primary & intermediate) and/or in multi-age classrooms. It is helpful if you can offer expertise in other teaching areas such as Mandarin, Music, Fine Arts, ELL, French, and Physical Education.
