School Overview

Why teach at St. George’s?

St. George’s School is an all boys independent school with more than 1,150 students and 240 staff across two campuses. Established in 1930, we are a K-to-12 institute located in Vancouver with a rich history and strong educational mandate.

Our Mission, Vision and Values

We are a vision-driven school whose mission is to inspire our students to become fine young men who will shape positive futures for themselves, their families, and the global community. Our Core Values of Empathy, Humility, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, shape our pedagogy as well as our day-to-day interactions, hiring, and the School as a whole

The Community

Vancouver is one of the most sought-after places to live in Canada. Our School is located across the Pacific Spirit Park, a large greenspace embedded with outdoor trails embedded among old-growth forests. Mountains and the ocean shorelines surround the city, which makes Vancouver the perfect place to enjoy hiking, skiing, and swimming all year round.

School Community

St. George’s School is an innovative and collaborative school, and we encourage our teachers to be creative in their delivery of the curriculum. Our teachers invest significant time in building relationships with students. These relationships are key to our students’ success. Because of this, many of our students and teachers form lifelong friendships and connections.

We have high academic rigour, and choice is embedded in our various cohort programs and our co-curricular programming.

Lifestyle and Recreational Opportunities

St. George’s is located close to the hub of Vancouver, and because it is so central, it is easy to change gears after a long day of work and be off the grid. In the School’s neighbourhood, there are restaurants, shops, large parks, and a community centre.

Draw for Employees

Our teachers feel supported because our School provides professional development opportunities, helping staff attend conferences, workshops, and complete Master’s program coursework. Our employees enjoy a fantastic work environment, and sustainable community programs such as cycling, car-pooling, walking, taking the school bus to support our teacher’s commute to work. We offer wellness initiatives onsite, including yoga, fitness, pickleball, mindfulness, and onsite health providers, like physio and massage services – all of which are covered under our benefits program. Our focus on health and wellness enables our teachers to personally benefit and de-stress from their busy work lives.
