Community Diversity

We are happy to boast that the Comox Valley offers many vibrant communities: from Denman and Hornby Island, Royston, Cumberland, Courtenay, Comox, Merville & Black Creek. The outdoors is our oasis and each community offers something special!

The Comox Valley is situated on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, within the traditional lands of the K’ómoks First Nation. This is one of few places in the world where you may go ocean kayaking in the morning, cycle at lunch, downhill ski in the afternoon…here you will find a distinctive community with a rich history, magnificent natural beauty, quaint shops, arts, entertainment and plenty more!

Salary and Benefits

Teachers typically receive a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • medical, dental, and extended health plans;
  • group life insurance benefits;
  • teachers’ pension;
  • extended health benefits for dependents of deceased employees;
  • accidental disability insurance;
  • salary indemnity plan benefit;
  • supplemental employment benefits on maternity leave;
  • employee and family assistance programs.

ALLOWANCES

Teachers in positions with special responsibilities, e.g. department heads, teacher consultants, teacher coordinators, counsellors, psychologists, alternate school teachers, speech pathologists, may receive a financial allowance of $2,000-$4,000 annually.
