Overview: Teaching Abroad at MLES

Maple Leaf Educational Systems (MLES) opened its first school in Dalian, China in 1995 and was certified by the Ministry of Education, British Columbia (BC), Canada in 1998. Today MLES operates 80 schools from preschool to high school in 19 cities throughout China and 2 in Canada, serving over 33,000 students. Fifteen of these schools are registered as BC offshore schools – 12 High Schools and 3 Foreign Nationals Schools. In 2017-18 over 8,000 MLES students were registered as BC offshore students.

The school represented the vision of Dr. Sherman Jen, Founder & CEO, to operate a high quality, externally accredited, international, private school in China. This educational system lends the strengths of a western educational model with the strengths and cultural richness of the Chinese educational system.

Salaries and Benefits

MLES offers the opportunity to teach, travel, save money and develop a career. The salary scale ranges from $50,500 – $70,000 CAD with annual increments. Our large system provides a variety of career advancement opportunities in administration and through professional development. Benefits include round trip annual airfares, premium health insurance coverage, settling allowance, assistance through the work permit/visa approval process, and unique to MLES, participation in an extensive employee stock option incentive program.
