Residing on the traditional territories of the Nuxalmc, Heiltsuk, and Wuikinuvx peoples, School District 49 lies on the beautiful Central Coast of BC.   With a student population of approximately 200+ in areas abundant in scenery and steeped in natural history (Oweekeno, Denny Island, Hagensborg and Bella Coola). The climate is mild with warm and sunny summers and quick access to heli-skiing, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in the winter, making it a great year-round playground and an outdoor enthusiast's paradise.  The majority of the students served within the district reside in Bella Coola and Hagensborg, with the two communities 16km apart.

Art and music are a large part of the community. With music festivals, Fall fairs, a local Farmer's Market, and a variety of recreational sports leagues, the Central Coast region offers an abundance of entertainment opportunities for your weekends off.

School District 49 offers a thriving StrongStart Program, First Nations culture and language program, creative Band and Fine Arts program and an excellent Outdoor Education program. We offer a wonderful opportunity to both work and play in a small rural setting with an excellent compensation package. Visit School District 49's booth at the EdTalent Job Fair in Toronto on April 26th and learn more about their exciting career opportunities.
