Connect with Education Jobs in BC at Upcoming Career Fairs

Are you a passionate educator ready to make a real difference? British Columbia is searching for qualified teachers like you to join our vibrant school communities. 

Throughout the 2024/25 school year, I will represent Make a Future at various Canadian Education Career Fairs in BC and throughout the country.  

Career fairs offer new graduates and established educators the chance to meet face-to-face with Make a Future, to build connections and learn more about what's available in BC. 

Having met hundreds of teacher candidates during the past few years at career fairs, I absolutely love being able to connect with educators and hear their goals and help guide them toward success.

Districts and Independent schools love meeting teacher candidates at fairs because this gives them the chance to connect with potential employees before the application process begins. Some districts use fairs as an opportunity to encourage certain candidates to apply and may even offer them an interview on the spot.  

Stand Out at a Career Fair 

With so many candidates and employers in attendance, career fairs can sometimes feel overwhelming. Here are some tips to help you prepare to put your best foot forward. 

• Research the districts attending ahead of time by reviewing their profile on www.makeafuture.ca. Be ready to talk about:  

• • Why you're interested in that district (use specific examples such as your passion for their mission, the culture, etc.). 

• • Types of positions you're looking for (teaching math, French, science, primary, secondary, etc.). 

• • Any questions you have about the lifestyle, teaching in BC, and the district/school. 

• Dress in your favourite business casual attire for a boost of confidence. 

• Try to come sometime in between the fair, not right at the beginning or the end, to allow districts time to set up and take down their booth.  

• Bring several copies of your resume.  

• Try to keep your evening and the next day clear of commitments in case a district offers an interview. 

• If an interview is not offered, inquire about an informational interview or any information sessions they plan to host so you can learn more. 

• Take their business cards and any accompanying swag. 

• Email the district after the fair, thanking them for your chat. 

Make a Future attends career fairs to represent education jobs in schools across the province, including Public, Independent, Offshore and First Nations schools. While we do not directly hire for these roles, we help interested potential employees connect with districts and discover the many rewarding opportunities in BC education
