School Overview

Vancouver Hebrew Academy is a co-educational, Orthodox Jewish elementary school where children are inspired in a stimulating educational environment to a lifelong passion for learning, academic excellence and devotion to Torah Judaism.

Why Teach at Vancouver Hebrew Academy?

Vancouver Hebrew Academy is a family comprised of its students, parents, educators, administrators and supporters. This notion of family informs everything we do, whether it is in communicating between teachers and parents, promoting respect for the diversity of Jewish practice and customs within our school community, or in celebrating our own students’ achievements and those of Jews worldwide.

Our Mission, Vision and Values

Our mission is to teach Torah Judaism and values through a strong and balanced curriculum of Jewish and general studies. We believe that Torah education inspires the pursuit of academic excellence and provides children with the foundational skills to fortify their Jewish identity and ignite in them a passion for a lifetime of exploring their Jewish heritage and the world.

Our Unique Programs

Our Judaic studies program is designed to give students the confidence, skills and desire to live as Jews and to encourage a lifelong interest in Jewish learning. The skills-based curriculum has been developed within the framework of the school’s education philosophy to meet the diverse needs of our school community. Our goal is to provide the essential tools our students will need to allow them to continue and achieve success in their Jewish education through high school and beyond, in both formal and informal settings. The Hebrew language curriculum is a comprehensive language acquisition program.

Community & School Culture

We are located in the Marpole area of Vancouver with easy access by transit from both Vancouver and Richmond and with ample free parking adjacent to the school.

Our curriculum is designed to encourage children to meet their maximum potential, to foster their curiosity about the world and to engender in them a sense of commitment to the School, Israel and the larger Jewish community.

VHA prides itself on providing the highest standard of general studies education. Using the British Columbia Ministry of Education curricular framework, our general studies program is customized by our staff to fit the individual needs of each student and each class. Our integrated approach to instruction includes exposure to the fine arts, as well as exciting and meaningful educational experiences. In addition, we offer a complete athletics program that teaches the importance of physical activity, individual achievement, teamwork and sportsmanship.
