At the Balsam School in Kelowna, our city and nature are important classrooms. Our purpose is to continue to expand the depth of student learning at all grade levels through the purposeful and pedagogically sound incorporation of our community and nature as vital, comprehensive and integrated learning spaces. Our School Community
We are inspired by the work and philosophy of Kurt Hahn (Gordonstoun and Outward Bound) and the Udeskole (out of school) movement in Denmark.
We embrace the incorporation of learning spaces beyond the four walls of the classroom and challenging ourselves to build resiliency. Approximately 50% of our time is spent outside of our school, learning and playing in nature and civic spaces.

Salary and Benefits
SALARY AND benefits
Salaries range from $55,000-$75,000, depending on experience. We offer extended medical benefits and a matching investment plan (either a TFSA or RRSP). Staff are supported to complete annual professional growth plans.
Application requirements
You must hold or be eligible for a Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate through the BC Ministry of Education’s Teacher Regulation Branch. We are looking for educators who have experience (and love!) working, learning in or exploring the outdoors.
