Mission, Vision & Values
Our high school program is fully accredited by the British Columbia Ministry of Education and is inspected annually to ensure quality education for our students. In addition to required courses, we pride ourselves on offering a wide range of electives so our students can choose courses that align with their interests and post-secondary goals.
School community
We have two main teaching buildings, with one building of 50 classrooms used exclusively for the BC and BC preparation program. We also have computer labs, a physics lab, biology/chemistry lab, music room, drama room, dance studio and lecture theatre. Our school also boasts a gymnasium, aquatics centre (which also includes a weight room) and 400-person theatre.
Our Community
Like many small towns, the streets of Luxu are lined with local vendors who are often interested in what the laowei (foreigners) are doing or buying! The town is home to many multinational chains, including Starbucks, McDonalds and KFC, and you can also find sushi, multiple pizza places, Korean food and local restaurants.
The area surrounding Luxu is known for its many lakes, as well as two ancient water towns that attract tourists from all over. Our campus is built on a large lake and park that is great for walks and fishing. The town of Luxu itself is surrounded by lakes and many apartments have wonderful lake views. Although Luxu is relatively small compared to surrounding cities, you can reach the larger centres like Shanghai and Shuzhou in under an hour.

Teaching in Canada requires visas and work permits. Our team will happily guide you through the process to make your move to China as seamless as possible.
Salary & Benefits
Relative to other BC offshore schools, we can offer teachers a generous compensation package.
Here are highlights of our offerings:
- Highly competitive salary range – $60,000-$80,000 based on experience and level of university education (e.g., master’s degree)
- Generous holidays – 15 weeks off in total, including Christmas, Chinese New Year, summer and other days off for holidays in October and May
- Professional development – Pro D stipend and professional development opportunities throughout the year
- Retention bonuses – Re-signing bonus after completing two years and returning for a third year, and another increase after three years
We make an effort to meet the needs of our staff with:
- Allowances for living expenses -1000 RMB annual travel allowance; paid international medical coverage; living allowance; free meals at school; personal technology budget
- More prep time – Friday dismissal at 11:30 am so boarding students can get an early start home for the weekend, which gives teachers valuable prep and collaboration time; plus one to two prep blocks each semester
- Manageable workloads – Maximum of seven teaching blocks in a year
