What Makes Us Unique

Evergreen Independent School (EIS) is a small, Group 1 funded PreK–Grade 7 school with combined classes and inclusive practices. Supported by modest monthly tuition and a provincial subsidy, EIS meets and exceeds the curriculum standards set by the B.C. Ministry of Education.

Serving approximately 50 students from the Cowichan Valley and beyond, our school is located in Cobble Hill, B.C., between Duncan and the Malahat.

Our School Community

EIS maintains a high staff-to-student ratio and prioritizes trauma-informed practices wherever possible. The school provides robust support for students with special education needs, including learning assistance, additional education assistants in each classroom and a regulation space accessible to all students.

Life in Cobble Hill

We are part of a semi-rural island community near Victoria and Duncan, about an hour from Nanaimo. Surrounded by rivers, beaches, lakes and ocean, water activities are abundant. The landscape features lush West Coast rainforests and open pastures on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Hul’qumi’num and SENĆOŦEN-speaking peoples, including the Quw’utsun and MÁLEXEȽ Nations.

This setting offers an exceptional quality of life, with endless opportunities for outdoor recreation and a close-knit community that values connection, culture and balance.
