About

We help students become educated citizens and lifelong learners by:

  • providing them with safe, healthy, accessible learning environments;
  • challenging and supporting them to achieve their individual potential;
  • offering them opportunities to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become successful and contributing members of society;
  • encouraging them to direct, evaluate and take pride in their development;
  • providing educational experiences that reflect and value the cultures of our Aboriginal students and seeking direction and support from our community.

Regional Diversity

We work closely with the Sechelt Indian Band to provide programs for First Nations students. Sunshine Coast communities are safe and beautiful small towns. We have spacious countryside with wonderful views of boreal forests, coastal mountains, streams and islands. We have clear air and pure and abundant water.

Specialty Programs

Some particularly popular programs include community television, salmonid enhancement, global education, Native studies, peer counseling and two ACE-IT programs (culinary arts and residential construction framing in partnership with Malaspina University-College). We also have several early learning programs, including two StrongStart centres.

Community Culture

Although our economy is largely driven by resource-related industries such as forestry and fishing, the Sunshine Coast has a growing arts community. We have theatre groups, dance troupes, a large number of musicians playing a wide variety of music, potters, sculptors, painters and other artisans working within our community.

Draw for Employees

We have a mild climate and, although we have our own amenities – shopping, hospital, incredible recreational areas and facilities – we are only a 40-minute ferry ride away from the Vancouver area. We have a strong learning community team and employees enjoy annual staff curling, volleyball and golf tournaments.
