Overview: Teaching Abroad at SIPFLS

Suzhou Industrial Park Foreign Language School (SIPFLS) is in one of China’s most beautiful and prosperous cities. Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) is a modern and planned community in eastern Suzhou.

In five years, SIPFLS has developed a solid reputation and grown its enrolment every year. The building that houses the BC program is well resourced with two computer rooms, a media arts room and a calligraphy room. Classrooms have internet connections, white boards, wide screen TVs, and individually controlled heating and air conditioning systems. The school also has an auditorium, a large gymnasium and an all-weather turf field.

The school offers core academic courses, and electives leading to the Dogwood Graduation Diploma. There are also extra-curricular activities including inter-school sports, intramurals, student council and numerous clubs.

Community Culture

Suzhou is a modern city with amenities and recreational activities you would enjoy in Vancouver. There are many parks, urban green spaces, museums, and UNESCO world heritage sites to visit. The Suzhou Science and Cultural Arts Centre, which is home to an IMAX Cinema, is a place to enjoy symphonies and international plays. There are many “western friendly” restaurants, shops and malls as well.

Suzhou has been called the “Venice of the East” and is renowned for its Chinese Gardens, unique architecture and canals. The proximity of Suzhou to high-speed rail lines and airports makes it an excellent base for exploring other parts of eastern China and Asia—Shanghai is just a 25-minute train away. SIP’s moderate climate and proximity to lakes and mountains make it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
