Full-time Career Opportunities in a Historic New School

School District No. 57, located centrally in Prince George British Columbia, is recruiting to fill several full-time teaching positions in its newest concept elementary Aboriginal Choice School.

A historical first for the province, the Aboriginal Choice School was created as a way of engaging and improving the academic success rates of Aboriginal students in the community by recommendation of the Aboriginal Board of Education's Aboriginal Education Task Force report.

The elementary school will deliver the BC curriculum within the framework of Indigenous Knowledge, which will be inclusive of teachings in Aboriginal culture and language.  Moreover, its approach will integrate school life and family life by involving Elders, families and the community.

School District No. 57 is looking for teachers with an understanding of Aboriginal cultures and languages, and sensitivity to Aboriginal issues and history for the following full-time and part-time assignments:

  • 1.0 FTE Full-time Grades 2-4 Teachers
  • 1.0 FTE Full-time Grades 5-7 Teachers
  • 1.0 FTE Full-time Kindergarten/Grade 1 Teachers
  • 0.8 FTE Part-time Librarian/Prep Teacher
