Senior Management Careers in Transportation Services

Transportation supervisor, manager or coordinator coordinates transportation services, including the coordination of transportation for students, organization of school bus routes, management of budgets and supervision of bus maintenance and bus related staffing.

In some districts, directors of transportation have additional responsibilities in the facilities department.  Besides managing transportation services, they may manage capital projects, oversee construction, plan maintenance services, and prepare the district’s operations plan.

Managers in fleet services, grounds/maintenance, transportation, and custodial services report directly to the Director.

Senior transportation professionals in BC schools may be members of the Association of School Transportation Services of British Columbia

Qualifications and Certification Details

Some positions may require professional designation or certification such as a diploma in transportation management. Others may ask for a combination of experience, training and a valid class 2 BC driver’s license. See individual school district postings for more details.
