Management Careers in Facilities & Operations

Responsible for the overall management of School District operations, grounds and facilities. This may also include assisting with the development of capital plans, management of grounds and building maintenance and management of custodial operations. Positions with responsibilities in these areas include:

  • Director of Facilities
  • Maintenance Manager
  • Manager of Operations
  • Custodial Manager
  • Project Managers

Facilities and operations managers may be members of the Education Facility Managers Association (EFMABC).

Qualifications and Certification Details

Managers and directors are expected to have related a degree, diploma, certificate or combination of experience and training.

Some positions may require professional designation or certification, which may include a Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng.) and/or a trade’s Certificate of Qualification (CofQ).
