About
Education is the shared responsibility of the home, school and community. In a caring, cooperative and safe environment, every student will prepare for lifelong learning and living in a diverse society.
Regional Diversity
Experience the ideal west coast lifestyle! Our district is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island and encompasses the charming beachfront cities of Qualicum Beach and Parksville. Sheltered by Mount Arrowsmith, this area enjoys the mildest year-round climate in Canada, offers a spectacular natural environment and is home to a wonderful blend of young families and active seniors.
Specialty Programs
Schools have strong arts and athletics programs, and the district provides choice and alternatives, including French immersion, career education, distributed learning, an alternate program and the early reading program. The International Student Program welcomes students from many countries to our community. The district also collaborates with government and community agencies in such exemplary programs as the Building Learning Together community literacy project.
Community Culture
Sandy beaches, forests, farmland and mountains are all within easy reach. The area offers many outdoor pursuits such as fishing, golfing, boating, gardening and hiking. There is an active and vibrant local arts community — craftspeople and fine artists, writers’ groups and musicians — whose talents are showcased in local galleries, theatres and performance venues.
Draw for Employees
We offer a respectful working environment, innovative programs and a culture of collaboration. Our community is a safe and caring place in which to raise a family. Community members and volunteers work hard to ensure there are varied opportunities for residents to enjoy the outdoors, sports and the arts.
