Our vision is for every individual to feel valued and for all learners to reach their full potential. Our mission is to fully support all individuals in their personal development as successful learners and respectful contributors to society. Our Board goals are to: improve literacy and numeracy; promote social responsibility; retain, attract and support quality staff; and improve communication.
Regional Diversity
The district has strong ties to the region’s farming and forestry origins, and offers a mix of rural areas and fast-growing suburban development. Horse breeding is popular in Maple Ridge (along with the sale of trees and garden plants into the Vancouver market), while Pitt Meadows is home to cranberry and blueberry farms as well as specialty greenhouses.
Specialty Programs
Our district is committed to educational choice and an inclusive, local approach to special education. We have developed numerous skilled trades training partnerships with colleges and universities. An extensive network of teacher mentors helps ensure that new teachers get off to a positive start. We have also attracted Ministry funding for several pilot projects and taken a leadership role in piloting BCeSIS.
Community Culture
We are big enough to include necessary health, social and emergency facilities, yet small enough to be friendly and family-oriented. Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows are home to a world-class arts centre and theatre, award-winning musicians and performing arts groups, and over 100 artists, many with studios that are open to the public.
Draw for Employees
We are minutes from some of BC’s most spectacular scenery and less than an hour’s drive to Vancouver’s big-city attractions. The region has many attractions for the outdoor enthusiast, including hiking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, canoeing, fishing, air adventures and access to six distinctly different championship golf courses.
