District Overview

“At Gold Trail school district we work together to support success for all students in a safe, supportive, culturally rich environment reflecting the unique strengths of our rural communities.”

Our district communities are all small and remote, but each is unique in terms of culture and outlook. Gold Trail’s mission is to create a dynamic and supportive learning community that inspires and enables all students to achieve their potential. The mission statement drives the work we do.

Gold Trail school district is committed to improving completion rates for all learners.

Regional Diversity

The population of our school district is approximately 57% Aboriginal. Landscapes are incredible and include desert (where we enjoy some of BC’s hottest summers), mountains and lush forests, and rolling Chilcotin ranchland. Our communities share a rich history related to the Cariboo Gold Rush.

Gold Trail School District employs teachers, educational leaders, management, and support staff in the communities of: Ashcroft, Lillooet, Clinton, Cache Creek, Lytton, and Shalalth.

Community Culture

Our communities are dedicated to preserving, developing and expanding services for their residents, ultimately enhancing the lifestyle of all who live here. The school district is a major employer in each of our communities and plays a pivotal role in promoting this goal, and is the “tie that binds” our communities.

Specialty Programs

The AVID program is in place in the four district secondary schools.  Foundations Programs are available in Ashcroft, Lillooet and Lytton communities, providing an alternate education program for students who struggle socially and academically.

The Connected Classrooms project, allowing classes in three schools to connect with each other and receive the same lessons, has expanded opportunities for students to meet and learn with their peers in other communities, and for teacher collaboration and professional development.
