Our mission is supported by four core operating values: respect, responsibility, kindness and caring, and acceptance. Together, these guide our learning priorities, practices, policies, processes and budget allocations, enabling us to provide a holistic and supportive learning experience for our children.
Regional Diversity
Our district encompasses forests, lakes, plains, mountains and big sky. The rich Aboriginal culture – combined with opportunities for fishing, hiking, hunting or just sitting back and relaxing – allow for a broad range of cultural and outdoor experiences. There is something here for everyone, which is why so many people come for a visit and end up living here for a lifetime.
Specialty Programs
We have a number of special programs, including: French immersion, alternate education, alternate year school, First Nations language and cultural programs, and traditional school. Literacy and numeracy is a focus in our district: we offer Reading Recovery and a number of other literacy and numeracy strategies specifically selected to support the unique learning needs of students in the Cariboo.

Our community is unique and diverse, with employees coming from a range of backgrounds and cultures. Outdoor activities are unsurpassed: fly fishing, playing outdoor hockey on a homemade rink, whitewater rafting and mountain bike riding. We also have drama and theatre groups, a vibrant visual arts community and numerous local events, all with their own individual flavour.
